Our Partner Congregations

Welcome!

OELMS works to establish ministry groups in communities with growing immigrant populations, with special emphasis on the Oromo diaspora in the United States. We connect these groups to local congregations of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) while also working to reach the approximately 40 million Oromo people globally.

Our Vision

To create an independent, scripture-based Oromo-speaking ministry worldwide — preparing disciples who can penetrate into the non-Christian Oromo population and other ethnicities through prayer and with the Word of God.

Our Mission

To establish and nurture Oromo-speaking ministry groups across the United States, connecting them to local LCMS congregations and spreading the Gospel among Oromo people in North America and beyond.

Multi-Cultural Future

A key goal of OELMS involves preparing the second-generation English-speaking Oromo community over 25 years to fully integrate and merge with the existing LCMS congregations. Achieving this requires identifying shared values and common ground between Oromo-speaking and English-speaking congregations.
